CHICAGO, IL — Nordstrom is holding walk-in hiring days at four Chicago-area stores over the next eight days, starting tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, at its Michigan Avenue store just off the Mag Mile. A week later, on Thursday, November 5, the doors open at Old Orchard in Skokie, Woodfield in Schaumburg and Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook. Nordstrom says most roles get on-the-spot offers.

Two Thursdays, four stores, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. No appointment and no resume required, and Nordstrom's own postings list sales pay at $17.30 an hour plus commission.

Nordstrom's postings list sales at $17.30 an hour. Commission on apparel, shoes and accessories typically runs from 3% to 14.5%. Stock, fulfillment and delivery jobs list $17.45 to $18.15 an hour. Listed perks include a 20% employee discount, medical, dental and vision coverage, a retirement plan and paid time away, with eligibility depending on the role and schedule.

The Old Orchard posting is labeled seasonal. Ask at the interview whether the job you're offered runs past the holidays, because that answer can differ by store and department.

⚠️ Read This Before You Walk In

These are on-your-feet jobs. Nordstrom's postings describe six to eight hours of continuous movement per shift, frequent bending and reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Stock and fulfillment roles can mean lifting up to 50 pounds now and then.

One more thing: the dates are not interchangeable. Michigan Avenue hires on Oct. 29. The three suburban stores hire on Nov. 5. Show up at Woodfield tomorrow and you'll be a week early.

Michigan Avenue. The downtown store sits at Grand and Rush, a block off the Mag Mile and an easy walk from the Red Line at Grand.

Old Orchard, Skokie. Right off the Edens, handy for Evanston, Rogers Park and Niles.

Woodfield, Schaumburg. The pick for the Northwest suburbs, from Arlington Heights to Hoffman Estates.

Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook. The western suburbs option, between the Tri-State and Route 83.
